Verbal Communication

So it begins, my little guy talks gibber. Is that a word, gibber? It means words that can't be recognized, or does it? Is that how you spell it? Damn it, I don't know. I have to admit my vocabulary/grammar is not the best. I curse and I use broken English. I used to use the past participle verb tense incorrectly aka "I seen the movie twice." I say, "used to" because my husband spent the first year of our relationship correcting me. I'm impressed with people that use big words. Golly gee, sometimes I have no idea what the word means, but I nod my head and agree with what they are saying. My big word is melancholy = which is the most played out big word a person can have. Maybe it's because of my Appalachian roots or my lack of desire in knowing the English language. I am a college graduate of two degrees, you would think I would have a few better words than melancholy. So how do I get my beautiful little boy to have an expansive, impressive vocabulary? Let's hope his Dad can lead in the language category.

Emma visits Dane

GaGa and Emma came over Saturday to visit Dane. Emma is Dane's cousin. I hope that as Dane gets older he can spend more time with his cousins. When I was a youngster, a long long time ago :), I would spend most of my summers at my grandmother's house where my cousins and I would go camping, play games, hike and hang out. I'm going on a trip in September with my very special cousin Carrie and cannot wait to spend time with her. Anyways, here's a pic of Emma holding Dane.

Mom, will you please take off my clothes

Sometimes it's hard to figure out what an infant wants since they cannot speak. Lil Dane has been grumpy the past couple of days. After walking endless hours around the house holding him, bouncing, jumping, even taking his temperature, I take off his clothes. And bam, I've a got a happy baby. When he was born, he had a slight temperature so the doctors ran several different tests checking for infection and such. They found nothing and said he is just warm baby, like one of those people who won't wear a winter jacket. I can't wait until Spring and Summer so he can lounge in his diaper habitually and I won't feel like I'm freezing him. So this is Dane last night after the naked discovery.

Some random photos

Brad and I on our wedding day. The day I married my best friend.
I love this photo because it shows the cave in the background.

Then came Vincent, our naughty French Bulldog. This is him as a baby with GaGa.

This is him now. He anxiously waits for his dad to come home every day.

11/30/08!

Da Da helping Dane relieve some of his gas. Aunt Jenny showed us this nifty farting technique. As a mother of four, she's a great resource for advice.

And this is Dane a few days ago, our sweet little boy.

Valentine's Day fun

My lovely husband gave GOURMET chocolates and beautiful red roses. I love love love having fresh roses on the table. It makes the room permeate with romance.

In the evening we went to Whole Foods and took little Dane with us. He did really well until the end when the music from the live band scared him. We thought Whole Foods wouldn't be busy on Valentine's Day, boy were we wrong. They had a wine tasting event and the place was packed. Then when we came home and our dear friend Renee came over. We had wine and talked and laughed and had a great evening.

Two days with no electricity!

It's 2009, why hasn't technology advanced on the power situation? The electric lines should be underground with the gas and water, then the wind couldn't cause damage upon them. We should not have to go without electricity for two days in the cold winter! Our old community with lots of large mature trees doesn't help the scenario. Thankfully we have a gas fireplace in our bedroom so we survived. Papa Bear took the day off work to watch over us. Baby Bear spent two nights in our bed. We all snuggled and kept warm.

Our heat source..

Daddy moved the glider from the nursery into our bedroom as well as Dane's bouncy chair. We made the best of our time. :)

My day away, the boys will play

Yesterday I went to my friend Jeanie's house for a pot luck luncheon. A group of women I used to work with get together once a quarter to chit chat and eat. As usual, we had so much fun. This time we even frosted/decorated Valentine's cookies. (I think I ate 10 cookies so far in two days = great for the postpartum figure :0) When I was away, Brad and his mini me hung out. Daddy played video games and Dane jumped around on his chair. Even though I was only gone for a few hours, I missed them both. Love you guys!

Bath night

Tonight is bath night, a favorite activity of King Dane's. He loves milling around in the warm water. We've got the routine down... Daddy gets the water temperature just perfect; Mommy soaps him from head to toe; then Daddy dries him off.
I bleeped out his penis because I don't want him mad at me one day for posting a naked picture of him on the internet. :)

Cutest baby on the planet

Before I got pregnant, it would often annoy me that everyone thought their baby was the cutest baby on the planet. Most times their baby just looked like any other baby and I would hear... I'm going to submit my baby's pics to Gerber because I've got a future model, blah blah blah, look at his face, blah blah. But now I totally understand it! It's funny how things become so clear when you have children. Anywho, take a look at THE cutest baby on the planet.

GaGa-fied

On Saturday, I got some much needed time away from the house and went to Whole Foods & Babies R Us. While I was away, GaGa came to visit Dane and Brad. As Brad puts it, Dane got "gaga-fied", which simply means adored and loved by his grandma. It's very nice to have Brad's mother nearby considering all my family are 120 miles away. There is nothing like the love that comes from a grandma.
